Michael Sichelschmidt is a German painter who is known for his independent artistic expression. Uninfluenced by fashionable art trends, he consistently follows his own individual path away from the official art world. His works are characterised by a personal view of modern civilisation, often depicting deserted cityscapes, abandoned houses and industrial scenes. Another central theme of his art is the depiction of women in interior spaces, often in pensive or intimate moments. Sichelschmidt is often associated with New Objectivity and his works show influences from French Impressionism and American Realism, particularly Edward Hopper.
