Along with Max Klinger and Max Lieberman, he belonged to the “Group of Eleven” in Berlin. He travelled a lot and received several honours, such as the small gold medal in 1896 in Berlin, where he became part of the Berlin Secession two years later. In 1905 he received a professorship at the Dresden Academy.
