Thure Wallner was born in 1888 in Salem near Stockholm. He studied at the Althins School of Painting in Stockholm. He lived in Södertälje, a town south of Stockholm. Wallner was especially appreciated for his depictions of animals. Domestic animals such as birds of prey, foxes, reindeer or songbirds against the natural backdrop of Sweden were his trademark.
The “Bullfinches in the Snow” are among the small nature studies that stand out for their colourfulness and narrative value.
