The still life painter Adelheid Dietrich was tutored by her father, the Erfurt landscape painter Eduard Dietrich, and made her debut in 1847 and 1848 with pieces of fruit and flowers at the art exhibition in Dresden. It was based on Dutch masters and received a lot of praise from art critics because of the careful execution. As a result she exhibited at many important art exhibitions in Germany over the next 30 years, such as in Berlin, Bremen, Dresden and Kassel. She went on several study trips through Germany and Italy. Her pictures are not only in German collections, but also in American museums, galleries and private collections. In 2004/05 the Erfurt Angermuseum organized an exhibition on the artist. The flowers, fruits and leaves are rendered with the utmost precision. The light coming from the left shines through the grapes and creates a refined light-dark contrast in the bouquet.
