Hans Deiters, a painter and draughtsman from Düsseldorf, was born on 13 June 1868 as the eldest son of Heinrich Deiters. He was a student at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he mainly belonged to the master studio of Eduard von Gebhardt, although he was not particularly influenced by the latter’s view of art. In addition to his studies in Düsseldorf, he continued his training in Paris under R. Collin and the American Sprague Pearce. He painted a series of studies and nude drawings outdoors.
