Flower still lifes with roses are a focal point in Jensen’s work. He paints them as a container lying on a table or in a vase, as in the present illustration.
It is characteristic of Jensen’s flower pieces that he repeatedly selects the same glass vessel, which is characterized by a simple shape and a special simplicity. It seemed to him that it was less important to depict splendid and precious glasses than to focus on the material of the glass itself, its transparency and its simultaneous ability to focus light and evoke reflections.
