Hagemeister was influenced on the one hand by this progressive landscape painting in his work, on the other hand by the encounter with the painter Carl Schuch, who lingered around 1873 at the Hintersee. Both understood the “landscape” as harmony with nature, from which they had to draw. Working years together encouraged mutual artistic development and in 1880 allowed them to stay in Kähnsdorf, located on Lake Seddiner.
