Serge Poliakoff was a Russian painter and is considered an essential representative of the Nouvelle École de Paris. Until he graduated, Poliakoff works figuratively, natural landscapes and nudes dominate his oeuvre. In the lively artist metropolis of Paris, he met Wassily Kandinsky and Robert Delaunay, who had a lasting influence on him and, through the exchange, encouraged him to choose his abstract subjects. From the mid-1930s, Poliakoff worked intensively on pure color and simultaneous contrasts, resulting in a juxtaposition and juxtaposition of color surfaces in his works, which vary in colour from subdued earthy nuances to bright shades.

Exhibitions

Serge Poliakoff’s works were presented at international art exhibitions in the 50s and 60s, and after his naturalization in France in 1962, the artist was given his own room at the 1962 Venice Biennale.
