Short information about the artist
Oppler was primarily a portrait, interior and landscape painter who completed his studies in Munich with Karl Raupp, Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz. He then worked in London and Sluis in Holland before moving to Berlin in 1905. His pictures are influenced by impressionism and especially by Max Liebermann.
Private as well as public collections own works by Oppler, such as the Nationalgalerie Berlin, the Kestner Museum Hannover, the Neue Pinakothek Munich or the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Venice.
