Pastose application of paint and a quick brushstroke characterise Heinrich Hermanns’ spring painting. Almost the entire picture is dominated by the pink blossoming fruit tree. Behind it we see a house, in front of it a couple working on a farm. The scene is in the tradition of Gustave Courbet and Jean Francois Millet, but in terms of design it strongly follows the intention of the Impressionists.
